03/05/12 - Long Weekend, Tough Race for Shanky in Rattler

Sam "Shanky" Smith had a long weekend at South Alabama Speedway, competing in the 7th Annual Grasshopper Pro Late Model Rattler 125. The races were rained out Saturday night, and postponed for Sunday afternoon. The postponement also meant a cut in distance, to 100 laps. Shanky qualified 17th out of a stellar field of 27 of the best short track racers in the country, and fought hard for a 14th place finish. The best news, however, is the car had nearly no damage, and will be ready to go for Shanky's next race.
